  • Lionel Messi won the final piece of silverware of his career at the Qatar 2022 FIFA World Cup
  • Some believe it spelled the end of the unending GOAT debate between him and other greats
  • Dutch legend Patrick Kluivert is the latest to add his voice of support to Messi in the debate

Lionel Messi has scored another point in the unending GOAT debate after Dutch legend, Patrick Kluivert, added his voice to those supporting the 2022 World Cup winner.

Messi led Argentina to the title in Qatar, being named the tournament’s best player for his exploits in turning things around for his nation, who lost their opening game to Saudi Arabia.

The veteran scored twice in the final and took the first penalty of the shootout, as La Albiceleste prevailed over then-reigning World Champions, France.

According to JohnnyBet, the former Barcelona captain acknowledged his own greatness by claiming he had achieved everything in football after claiming Argentina's third world title.

Kluivert exalts Messi as GOAT

Kluivert, a former Barcelona player and one of the best strikers of the 1990s, has now lauded Messi as the greatest of all-time after his recent success with the South American nation.

“With all due respect to Diego Maradona, Pele, and Johan Cruyff, and to all the other game legends, what Messi has achieved makes him the greatest player ever,” the Dutchman told JohnnyBet

The former Ajax star mentioned Messi's World Cup, Copa America, and Champions League successes as well.

“[Messi has] won all the trophies a footballer could ever want to win. And there are the personal prizes he has won as well. I consider Messi as one of, if not the greatest ever.”

The 46-year-old Dutch legend was a first-team member of La Blaugrana when Messi was signed as a teenager from Argentine club, Newell’s Old Boys, and watched him on the path to superstardom.

United winger Antony snubs Ronaldo

Sports Brief also reported that Manchester United winger, Antony snubbed Cristiano Ronaldo while building the attributes of his 'ultimate player'.

He acknowledged Luka Modric as the most intelligent, his compatriot Casemiro as a leader, Messi for his flair, and Robert Lewandowski for shooting.

Antony and Ronaldo shared a close relationship during the Portuguese's second spell at United, which ended in January when he joined Al-Nassr.
