Eric Abidal’s Wife Accuses Former Barcelona Star of Emotional Blackmail

Eric Abidal’s marriage is seemingly on the rocks, after the investigation into the brutal attack on Paris Saint-Germain Feminine star, Kheira Hamraoui, in 2021 exposing his alleged infidelity.

After Abidal was questioned following the assault on the PSG midfielder, his wife - Hayet - appears to have found the alleged extramarital affair too much to forgive.

Abidal's wife has since spoken about instituting divorce proceedings against the former French defender.

Now, what seems already an ailing relationship is apparently souring further, with reports from L'Equipe stating that Hayet has also accused the former Barcelona star of emotional blackmail and repeated suicidal threats.

More specifically, she accused Abidal - from whom she requested a divorce two years ago - of threatening to not take the medicine needed to avoid his transplanted liver being rejected, after undergoing an operation following being diagnosed with a tumour in 2011.

She also claimed the ex-French international made the threats in front of the couple’s two children.

Hayet Abidal files for divorce

Hayet previously confirmed she was seeking a divorce from her husband. She released a statement back in November 2021 confirming the news.

In the release per AFP, as reported by French media outlet, RMC Sport, she claimed Abidal had admitted to an extra-marital relationship with PSG Feminine midfielder, Hamraoui.

The lawyer of the former French midfielder, Olivier Martin, has since confirmed his client would not be making any statement at the time and he has not yet commented on the most recent allegations.

Abidal begs wife for forgiveness

Previously, Sports Brief reported on Abidal asked his wife for forgiveness on Instagram, after it emerged he had an extra-marital affair with PSG Feminine midfielder, Kheira Hamraoui.

It appears the public apologies of the former French defender have fallen on deaf ears however, with Hayet Abidal reportedly seeking a divorce and an end to their drama-filled marriage.
