- Victor Osimhen scored 26 goals for Napoli in their Serie A campaign last season
- The Super Eagles star helped his club win the Scudetto after over three decades
- Aurelio De Laurentiis has now shed light on Osimhen's future at the Italian club
Victor Osimhen will not be leaving Napoli this summer, according to the club's president, Aurelio De Laurentiis.
He made the emphatic statement about the Nigerian striker amid continued reports linking Osimhen with moves to Ligue 1 and the Premier League.
Osimhen recorded his name in the history books last season as the Serie A's highest goal-scorer, and for helping Napoli win the Scudetto after more than three decades.
The Nigerian is currently hot property in the transfer market with clubs like Chelsea, Manchester United, and Paris Saint-Germain said to be interested in his services.
According to the reports by Naija Footballer and Complete Sports, De Laurentiis explained that Napoli have an agreement in principle with Osimhen to sign another two-year deal.
De Laurentiis speaks about Osimhen
"I have said for a while that Osimhen has to stay. Then, if an offer came in that I could not refuse for the good of Napoli, then we would consider it, as is only natural."
De Laurentiis revealed the discussion between Osimhen and the club had taken place before Napoli's Serie A title celebrations.
He also mentioned plans for the Italians to defend their Scudetto in the coming season.
“The other players, that is something we need to study with Rudi, because I have for many years been convinced that pre-season training is fundamental.”
Pitch invader grabs Victor Osimhen
Earlier, Sports Brief reported a Liberian pitch invader grabbing Osimhen during the Africa Cup of Nations qualifying match between Nigeria and Sierra Leone in Monrovia.
The encounter was a challenging one for the three-time African champions, the Super Eagles, who scored at the death to record the win over a surprisingly tough host.
Osimhen was the man of the match with a brace for Nigeria in their 3-2 win over Sierra Leone, but the game was also marked by strange moment on the field of play.
