  • Kylian Mbappe has told Paris Saint-Germain he will not stay until June 2025
  • Real Madrid are one of the clubs interested in signing the French superstar
  • Mbappe recently admitted he wants to remain at PSG for another season

Real Madrid president, Florentino Perez has insisted the club will not bring in any more players this month after completing a deal to sign Joselu.

The Spanish giants recently announced the signing of the 33-year-old forward, who scored 16 goals in 33 La Liga appearances for Espanyol last season. His efforts could not prevent the club's relegation.

Joselo, who previously played for Newcastle and Stoke City, is set to become a cost-effective replacement for Karim Benzema, who left Real Madrid for a bumper contract with Saudi Arabian side, Al-Ittihad.

After the signing of Jude Bellingham, Los Blancos have been strongly linked with a move for Kylian Mbappe, after previously failing to complete a deal for the Paris Saint-Germain striker.

The Frenchman made headlines recently after sending a letter to PSG, informing them he will not trigger a one-year contract extension, meaning his deal will come to an end in June 2024. The club has to decide to sell him now or risk losing him for free later.

Goal understands the Parisians' priority is to ensure they profit from Mbappe's exit, meaning they are prepared to cash in on him during this window.

That intention means a high-stakes game of poker - in a football context - could be played out between all the interested parties over the summer.

Perez reveals Madrid's transfer plans

In a video, which was posted on Twitter, Perez was asked if a deal to sign Joselu was close to being completed.

He said that would be done this week before being questioned on any other deals, to which he replied Real Madrid was not planning on any other signings at present.

Many Madridstas had hoped the club would finally complete their vision of bringing Mbappe into the attack, although Perez's comments seem to suggest otherwise.

As well as losing Benzema, the Spanish giants will also see the exits of Eden Hazard, Marco Asensio, and Mariano Diaz this summer, with the latter being the only recognised central striker in the team.

While Joselu will help close that gap, the club have also been linked with a move for Tottenham’s Richarlison, who has a close relationship with Carlo Ancelotti from their time together at Everton.

Last week, the Brazilian admitted he had spoken to his former manager recently and stated it was a dream of his to play for the Spanish giants, per Marca:

"Of course, every player wants to wear the shirt of Real Madrid. It's the biggest club in the world. But I have a club, a contract, I have to prove why they bought me for a high price."

Richarlison also commented on his poor season, which he attributed to injuries.

"But it’s a dream... of every player to wear Real [Madrid's] shirt. But I still have to deliver wearing Tottenham’s shirt."

Mbappe expresses his transfer desire

Earlier, Sports Brief reported on Mbappe calling PSG his only option for now, after informing the club he would not affect an extension of his contract.

The French star reiterated his plan after several reports linked him with a move away, amid rumours the Ligue 1 champions wanted to sell him off.
