  • Mason Mount has reportedly agreed personal terms with Manchester United over a potential move
  • The transfer is subject to agreeing on a fee between the two clubs but they are far apart in valuation
  • United full-back Luke Shaw reveals the speculation is a subject of a joke between the two

Manchester United full-back Luke Shaw admits he is tapping up Chelsea midfielder Mason Mount amid reports of a potential transfer to Old Trafford.

Mount is a Chelsea academy graduate and broke onto the scene in the 2019/20 season under club legend Frank Lampard, who he has been likened to become of similarities in the style of play.

He has been an instrumental team member under four managers, including Champions League-winning manager Thomas Tuchel.

His current contract is set to expire in the summer of 2024 but has yet to reach an agreement over a new one having rejected multiple offers and the club concluding that he will be sold if he does not renew.

Shaw shares joke with Mount

Man Utd is seen as his potential destination if he moves and has reportedly agreed personal terms with the Red Devils, as 90min reports, with an agreement between the two clubs the only impediment.

United defender Shaw admits the news around the potential move is something he shares as a joke with his England national teammate.

“Obviously, Mason, he is not here. It’s all just a bit of a banter really; we have a bit of a joke and laugh about it,” he told Sky Sports via Sportskeeda.
“I am not too sure what goes on obviously behind the scenes. It’s up to deal with the club. But, of course, when we are here, we are always together. We have a joke about it. But, like I said, we don’t know too much about what’s going on.”

Arsenal are also interested but aware that United is his preferred destination and have gone for his attack partner Kai Havertz.

Silva reacts to Mount’s departure

Sports Brief also reported that veteran defender Thiago Silva had an emotional reaction to the news of Mount's possible exit to join Manchester United.

Silva commented on an Instagram post that announced the news with two teary emojis, demonstrating what many Chelsea players think of the Blues star.
