Arsenal boss, Mikel Arteta has reportedly rejected Alexis Sanchez's request to make a sensational return to the Emirates Stadium this summer.
The Chilean forward spent close to five years with the Gunners between 2014 and 2018 before he sealed a shocking move to Manchester United.
However, his stint at Old Trafford did not go according to plan and he was subsequently shipped out to Inter Milan.
The former Barcelona superstar would later quit the Serie A giants, sealing a switch to Marseille, where he has gone on to enjoy an incredible run of form.
According to Goal, the 34-year-old is now keen to make a return to the Premier League this summer after just one season with the French club.
Reports claim the winger has set his sights on rejoining Arsenal on a free transfer. However, Arteta is said to be unwilling to have Sanchez back into the fold.
Arteta speaks on Sanchez return
Metro UK claims the Chilean's representatives have already contacted the Gunners about a potential return, with the player keen on playing in the Champions League.
It is believed Arteta has since been made aware of Sanchez’s desire to make a return to the Emirates Stadium, with the former Arsenal man hopeful an agreement will be reached.
Whereas the Gunners' manager is understood to be keen to reinforce his squad, reports suggest he has already made it clear Sanchez does not fit in his plans for the club.
The north Londoners were in incredible form during the recently-concluded season as they came close to winning the Premier League title.
