FootballHow de Gea Could Help Rashford Become Man United’s Highest Paid Player
- Marcus Rashford is in line for a new bumper deal at Old Trafford after an incredible 2022/23 season
- Reports claim Manchester United could offer a wage that would make him the highest-earning player
- Rashford's new salary would be the same as what goalkeeper David De Gea was pocketing at the club
David de Gea could reportedly play a huge role in Marcus Rashford becoming Manchester United's highest-earning player.
Rashford was in fine shape for United during the recently-concluded 2022/23 campaign, that saw the Red Devils end their long wait for a trophy when they beat Newcastle in the final of the Carabao Cup.
According to Goal, the English forward's remarkable season saw him score 30 goals across all competitions for the Old Trafford dwellers.
17 of those goals came in the Premier League as Erik ten Hag's men sealed a third-place finish in the standings to secure UEFA Champions League football for next term.
Rashford to become top earner
According to reports, United are looking to reward Rashford for his blistering run of form with a new bumper deal.
The Sun claims the new deal could see the forward earn as much as £375,000 per week, thus becoming the club's highest earner.
Incredibly, De Gea, who is out of contract at Old Trafford, is reportedly expected to play a key part in the deal. It is believed the Spaniard's wages could be reduced to £200k-a-week, the same as what Rashford is earning at the moment.
Should the goalkeeper accept the pay cut, it would effectively see him and the star forward trade salaries.
Rashford awes fans with skills
Earlier, Sports Brief reported on Rashford pulling off insane skill moves that would make football icon, Ronaldinho, proud during England's clash against Malta.
The Manchester United forward was part of the squad that contested the UEFA Euro qualifying clash on Friday, and he has left fans raving at his slick abilities.
Despite England's impressive win against Malta, it was Rashford's silky skills exhibited during the match that became the biggest talking point after.
