  • Super Eagles of Nigeria will face Sierra Leone on Sunday, June 18, in AFCON qualifier
  • Jose Peseiro and his players only need a draw in this game for them to qualify for next AFCON
  • There could be severe consequences for Peseiro if the Super Eagles should fail to win

Nigerian Football Federation chiefs have reportedly warned the Super Eagles coach that he has to win Sunday's game against Sierra Leone if he wants to remain as head coach of the three-time African champions.

The former Venezuela coach was hired last year in June by the ex-NFF board under Amaju Pinnick with the target of him changing the fortune of the Super Eagles after failing to qualify for the 2022 World Cup.

However, Peseiro has not been having it rosy as coach of the Nigerian side and many fans have been urging the FF eggheads not to retain him.

According to the report on Owngoal, Gusau and his men at the Glass House want a good performance from the Super Eagles against Sierra Leone for them to rate Peseiro.

Peseiro's contract expires this month

The contract of Jose Peseiro as Super Eagles coach will expire at the end of June and the NFF chiefs want to use the game against Sierra Leone to make a decision.

A win could make the Portuguese get a new contract offer from the NFF, while a defeat would send him out.

Peseiro responds to Nigerian fans

Earlier, Sports Brief had reported how Jose Peseiro who is the gaffer of the Super Eagles has finally responded to angry Nigerian football fans who want captain Ahmed Musa to be kicked out of the Nigerian national senior men's team.

The former Leicester City forward is currently in camp in Lagios with his teammates who are preparing for the African Cup of Nations qualifier against Sierra Leone.

Musa has so far recorded his name in the history books of Nigerian football as he is Super Eagles' highest goalscorer in the World Cup and also has the highest number of appearances for the three-time African champions.

Fans are not happy with Musa's inclusion in the match against Sierra Leone with many claiming that there are better players who should have been given the chance.
