  • Arsenal have reportedly pulled out of the race to sign midfielder Moises Caicedo
  • Brighton CEO Tony Bloom claimed the Ecuadorian is worth £120m this window
  • The player himself dropped a hint about his next club and it is the Gunners’ rival

Arsenal will not be continuing in the race to sign Moises Caicedo from Brighton and will instead focus on West Ham captain, Declan Rice, whom they are forerunners for his signature.

It is unclear why the Gunners withdrew from the race, leaving Chelsea and Bayern Munich - coached by former Blues boss, Thomas Tuchel - as the two possible destinations.

Arsenal had multiple bids of up to £70 million for the player rejected in January, despite an open letter to the club which could have allowed him to leave for a club-record fee.

According to The Telegraph, the player wants to remain in the Premier League, but the Seagulls will demand a whopping £120mil to sell him after he signed a new contract in February.

Caicedo hints at next club

Chelsea have always been the frontrunner for the deal, but their status solidified after the withdrawing of Arsenal, who are playing Champions League football next season.

The player has hinted the news is true after liking a series of posts on the Blues' Instagram, including Eden Hazard’s goal against Liverpool ahead of the season opener.

Express UK, however, noted that fans will hope he does not pull a Mykhailo Mudryk on them after the Ukrainian spent months teasing the Gunners only to join Chelsea within 24 hours.

Mudryk has yet to hit the ground running at Stamford Bridge despite showing early signs of what he can do as a speed monster and a beautiful striker of the ball.

Pochettino to stick with Kepa

Sports Brief also reported that Mauricio Pochettino has decided on Kepa Arrizabalaga as the club’s number 1 next season despite the impending arrival of a new goalkeeper.

The Argentine tactician also warned the club not to go wild on the potential transfer of Andre Onana from Inter Milan, saying he will rather look inwards to find a solution.

Kepa as number one and completing Caicedo’s transfer solves some of the problems the Pochettino is facing as the Blues' new head coach ahead of the incoming season.
