FootballRicharlison Keen on Joining Real Madrid in Future Amidst Search for Benzema’s Replacement
- Richarlison is hopeful of making a greater impact at Tottenham Hotspur next season
- The forward only started in 12 Premier League games, scoring once in the process
- He has also expressed interest in playing for Real Madrid at one point in his career
Richarlison has openly admitted that he would like to play for Real Madrid sometime in future. The Spanish giants are currently in the market looking for Karim Benzema's replacement.
The Brazilian has, however, indicated that he won't take the move now as he seeks to prove himself at Tottenham Hotspur.
He endured a difficult debut season in North London after securing a high-profile move from Everton. He only scored one Premier League goal during the dramatic 4-3 defeat to Liverpool at the Anfield Stadium.
The striker was in and out of Antonio Conte's squad due to injury issues and whenever he was fit, Harry Kane, Heung-min Son and Dejan Kulusevski were often preferred ahead of him.
Now under new manager Ange Postecolglou, the 26-year-old will be looking to revitalize his career in the upcoming season.
"Asked about playing for Real while on Brazil duty, Richarlison said: "Real Madrid links? Of course, every player wants to wear the shirt of Real Madrid. It's the biggest club in the world. But I have a club, a contract; I have to prove why they bought me for a high price. But any player dreams of playing for Real Madrid," as quoted by GOAL.
Los Blancos have been interested in Kane as they seek to replace Benzema, but it is highly unlikely that club CEO Daniel Levy will sanction that move.
Despite his struggles in the league, Richarlison has been a potent weapon for the national side. The Selecao are set to face Guinea and Senegal in international friendlies.
