  • Pep Guardiola showed appreciation for Manchester City staff after a highly successful season
  • The Spanish head coach oversaw a period of unrivalled success as the Citizens won the treble
  • Guardiola also landed the club's first UEFA Champions League title after years of near misses

Pep Guardiola has gifted members of Manchester City's backroom staff, following a historic season that saw the club win the treble.

Manchester City became only the second English club to win the treble after beating Inter Milan in the UEFA Champions League final on June 10, to claim their first European title.

Guardiola had earlier successfully retained the Premier League title after eclipsing longtime leaders, Arsenal, before dispatching their cross-city rivals, Manchester United, in the FA Cup final.

The Telegraph now reports the City manager has decided to give his share of the bonuses to the unseen members of his backroom staff.

The exact figure is not known, but players often get around €750,000 for winning silverware and the head coach is believed to be getting a more or less similar amount.

Who did Guardiola gift?

Among those gifted include the security personnel and receptionists at the club. Daily Mail adds that the staff who work on the administration side are often gifted bonuses for each trophy won.

City players have been on a four-day party since the Champions League win, before those who were called up left to join their respective national sides on the global state.

Guardiola will be aiming to win his fourth consecutive title next season.

Meanwhile, Man City will be looking to bolster their ranks in the transfer window with the futures of Ilkay Gundogan and Bernardo Silva in doubt. They have already been linked with moves for Chelsea's Matteo Kovacic and RB Leipzig's Josko Gvardiol.

Managers who have won treble

Manchester City are still in a celebratory mood after winning their first-ever UEFA Champions League, beating Inter Milan 1-0 to complete the treble.

City joined other European clubs completing the treble, while Guardiola became the only manager to win it twice after doing so with Barcelona.

Sports Brief has looked at the six managers to have won the UEFA Champions League, domestic league and domestic cup in one season.
