  • Real Madrid completed the signing of Jude Bellingham on a six-year deal
  • Los Blancos will reportedly pay 103m euros (£88.5m) to Borussia Dortmund, but add-ons could see the fee rise to 133.9m euros
  • The young Englishman became the most expensive English player of all time following the transfer

The rankings for the top 10 most expensive English players in history make for exciting viewing after Jude Bellingham’s move to Real Madrid.

Bellingham’s move to the Spanish giants is quite inspiring having played second-tier English football less than two years ago. Still, his talent on the football field speaks to his bright future, with the Spanish giants coughing up big money for his services.

It is quite a hefty fee for a 19-year-old, but his talent is undeniable.

Bellingham has proven to be a master in the midfield department, and his game is characterized by intricate passing, some flair and a superb ability to command play in the middle of the park.

Following his signing, Bellingham toppled Manchester City star Jack Grealish as the most expensive Englishman in world football as of June 14, 2023.

The 19-year-old’s €133.9m price tag surpasses the €118m Manchester City paid for Grealish when they brought the attacker in from Aston Villa in 2021.

Interestingly, Raheem Sterling occurs on the list twice, as he has made big money moves from Liverpool to Man City, and from Man City to Chelsea last summer.

Pep Guardiola’s Man City dominates the list as the club seems to have broken their bank several times for English players.

Kyle Walker, John Stones, Jack Grealish and Sterling all make the list because of the money City paid to acquire them.

Real Madrid's midfield is 'sorted'

Meanwhile, football fans believe Real Madrid's midfield is handled over the long-term after the blockbuster acquisition of Jude Bellingham.

After a successful three-season stint, the Englishman bids farewell to Borussia Dortmund as the Bundesliga Player of the Year of the past season.

The addition of Bellingham and the presence of Eduardo Camavinga and Aurelien Tchouameni signals a transition from Luka Modric and Toni Kroos.
