FootballWhat PSG Will Do After Mbappe Sent Bombshell Letter to Club About His Future
- Kylian Mbappe has rocked Paris Saint-Germain's camp with his actions
- The 24-year-old's current deal with Les Parisiens expires next summer
- Mbappe's current contract situation at PSG has put Real Madrid on alert
Paris Saint-Germain have been struck an unsuspecting blow by Kylian Mbappe after the Frenchman reportedly informed his employers about his future.
Mbappe, who helped PSG seal a record 11th Ligue 1 title this season, made a stunning U-turn by ditching Real Madrid to sign a lucrative contract extension with the French outfit in 2022.
He has since gone on to become PSG's record goal-scorer, in addition to a number of personal and team accolades, but could see his spell in the capital city come to an abrupt end.
As per the French sports daily publication L'Equipe, a formal letter was sent by the 2018 World Cup champion to the management of Paris Saint-Germain on Monday afternoon.
The contents of the letter suggest that Mbappe has informed the Parisians of his decision to 'unequivocally not exercise the option in his contract for an additional year until 2025'.
This decision poses a potential risk for the Ligue 1 champions as they might lose him without receiving any compensation next year.
Consequently, there is a possibility they might choose to sell him during the current summer transfer window to avoid missing out on a substantial financial gain for one of the world's most exceptional players.
Mbappe: what will PSG do?
According to transfer expert, Fabrizio Romano, the French giants are surprised by Mbappe's decision to inform the club of the decision about his future formally.
The revered specialist believes there was no legal need for the 24-year-old to send any letter - as of August 1, his current deal becomes automatically non-renewed.
The position of the club is clear concerning Mbappe. They are willing to offload him as soon as this summer if he fails to extend his contract.

Mbappe sends letter to PSG
Earlier, Sports Brief reported on Mbappe turning down PSG's contract extension, paving the way for his exit.
The 24-year-old striker's current deal expires at the end of next season, with an option of another year added.
If Mbappe does not extend his deal, the Ligue 1 champions risk losing him for free in a year and could sell him.
