  • Kylian Mbappe’s time at Paris Saint-Germain may be up this summer
  • The 24-year-old has told PSG he will not renew his current contract
  • Real Madrid has since renewed their keen interest in signing Mbappe

Kylian Mbappe has elevated himself to legendary status at Paris Saint-Germain, but the French forward appears keen to move on after six seasons with the Parisians.

Mbappe joined PSG as an 18-year-old in 2017 but has boosted his pedigree to become the club’s assistant captain, despite having senior players like Neymar Junior and Lionel Messi in the squad.

The 24-year-old forward has scored 212 goals in 260 games to emerge as PSG’s all-time goal-scorer, surpassing the previous record of Uruguayan forward, Edinson Cavani, per BBC Sport.

Currently rated as one of the best players in the world, Mbappe has attracted interest from several top teams, especially Real Madrid, who are still keen on securing his signature.

Sports Brief details why PSG should sell Mbappe when the 2023 transfer window opens this summer.

Mbappe not extending PSG contract

Sky Sports reports that Mbappe has written to PSG to inform the reigning Ligue 1 champions that he will not extend his contract with the club by one year to 2025.

The French forward’s current deal runs until the end of the 2023/24 season with the option of another year, after he snubbed Real Madrid to extend his stay in Paris.

The Parisians had been negotiating a new deal with Mbappe, but it appears the 24-year-old wants a new adventure and will seek a move away from the club when his contract runs out.

PSG must sell Mbappe now

PSG are willing to sell Mbappe this summer rather than risk losing the reigning Ligue 1 MVP for free in a year when his contract runs out, the BBC also reports.

Their all-time leading scorer will be free to leave at the end of the season, with Real Madrid, Manchester United, and Chelsea all interested in signing the former Monaco starlet.

Mbappe could be the next big name to leave PSG this summer following the exit of Lionel Messi, who has joined MLS side, Inter Miami.

According to Goal, the Parisians will demand something in the range of €200 million from any team that is willing to sign the 24-year-old this summer.

Real Madrid’s stance on Mbappe

Earlier, Sports Brief reported on Mbappe’s status at PSG being monitored by Real Madrid although he was not in the club’s initial plans for the summer.

Fran Garcia, Brahim Diaz, and Jude Bellingham are reportedly arriving at the Santiago Bernabeu Stadium, with the latter a possible marquee transfer.
