The UEFA Champions League 2022/2023 has just ended with English Premier League kings Manchester City emerging champions.

Clubs fight in their respective domestic leagues in their bid to grab a ticket to the European competition to improve their financial status.

Most European teams make the UEFA competition a primary objective at the start of every of their seasons.

And in the competition proper, each match result can significantly increase a club's payout, meaning performances in the European tournament are of the utmost importance, Sporting News reports.

UEFA recently released detailed figures for prize money payouts in the 2022/23 Champions League, with a total purse of €2.032 billion (£1.72b / $1.98b).

Following Manchester City’s win over Inter Milan at the Ataturk Stadium on Saturday night, here is a full breakdown of all the prize money allocations for group-stage and knockout-stage participants in the 2022/23 Champions League, Goalball reports.

Last season champions Real Madrid received €83.2 million prize money, including an additional €4.5 million for winning the UEFA Super Cup in August 2022.

In the 2022/23 Champions League, winning the entire competition with a perfect group-stage performance would earn a maximum prize money payout of €85.14 million. Neither Man City nor Inter Milan, this year's finalists, managed to win all their group games.

City complete treble

Sports Brief earlier reported that Pep Guardiola's side were aiming to secure a treble after winning the Premier League and the FA Cup - the first side to do so since city rivals Manchester United.

Manchester City have won their first-ever Champions League and the Treble after a 1-0 win over Inter.

Midfielder Rodri Hernandez scored from 15 yards out in the 68th minute to secure a victory over Italian side Inter in Istanbul, capping an unforgettable season for Pep Guardiola's side.
