Former Super Eagles striker, Obafemi Martins has rubbished a report that he welcomed quadruplets, claiming the author of the article did so to 'cash in' on his name.
Fans in Nigeria and abroad have been sending congratulatory messages to Martins after a photo of him surfaced online, showing him and three other men each with a newborn child in their arms.
The former Nigerian footballer is married to Ghanaian-Italian Abigail Barwuah, who is the younger sister of former Manchester City striker, Mario Balotelli.
According to information Martins released via his official Instagram account, and a report by Naija News, the Nigerian striker explained he is not the father of the babies in the image.
Martins denies welcoming quadruplets
"Please note there is fake news circulating that I have had quadruplets; these are stupid [rumours] formed by someone looking for fame. This picture was taken during my [foundation's] donation to the maternity hospital for underprivileged mothers," he explained.
Martins scored 18 goals in 42 appearances for the Super Eagles, also representing Nigeria in the Africa Cup of Nations in 2006, 2008, and 2010, and at the FIFA World Cup in 2010.
He was primarily known for his outstanding pace, mobility, and athleticism as a footballer.
Martins and Barwuah have one child together - Kendrick, born in 2013.
Martins, Wasiu Ayinde 'splash cash'
Sports Brief also reported on an awesome video on social media showing former Super Eagles striker, Martins giving out bundles of money to Wasiu Ayinde at Sulaimon Malaika's birthday.
'KS1' celebrated his 50th birthday on May 7 this year, with the acclaimed musician deciding to stage a party for friends, colleagues, associates, and fans in Lagos to celebrate the milestone.
It was an incredible moment for Malaika, with many of his colleagues in the music industry arriving to honour him, including Daddy Showkey, Portable, Ogogo, Remi Aluko, and Femi Adebayo.
