Lionel Messi has opened up about his two-year stint with Paris Saint-Germain following his shock move to American top flight club, Inter Miami.
After two seasons in the French capital, Messi bade farewell to PSG as a free agent, leaving behind a trail of accomplishments that included three titles - two Ligue 1 crowns and one Trophee des Champions.
In the end, Messi's time with the French champions fell short of the anticipated outcomes, with Les Parisiens disappointingly failing to capture the ultimate prize - the UEFA Champions League, CBS Sports reports.
Messi's reflects on PSG time
The arrival of the seven-time Ballon d'Or winner at the French champions was met with great excitement and celebration but ultimately concluded on a sour note.
During Messi's term at the club, he experienced a significant downturn as he encountered internal suspension for going on an unsanctioned trip without the club's approval.
Furthermore, he had to endure somewhat unjust treatment from a section of the PSG fanbase, making it an exceptionally challenging period for him.
Reflecting on his time in Paris, the 35-year-old admitted he was unhappy during an interview with Mundo Deportivo, as quoted by GOAL.
"I had two years where I was so unhappy on a personal level that I didn't enjoy it. I had that month that was spectacular for me because of winning the World Cup, but apart from that, it was a difficult period for me. I want to rediscover joy, enjoy my family, my children, the day-to-day... And that's why the decision for Barcelona didn't happen."

FootballMessi jerseys help PSG's profit
Earlier, Sports Brief reported that Inter Miami is set to witness a massive financial jump from next season after the club revealed Messi would join the Major League Soccer club next season.
PSG also experienced a jersey sales skyrocket with the arrival of the veteran, with it being reported that the Ligue 1 champions generated over $130 million in 2022 from his total jersey sales.
The sales made by the French giants are way above what the highest-earning MLS club generated last year, as Los Angeles FC, who occupies that rank, only yielded $116 mil in that revenue.
