- Xavi has debunked reports linking Neymar with a return to Barcelona this summer
- The Brazilian was said to be considering a return to Camp Nou once he leaves PSG
- Chelsea, Manchester United, and Barca have been linked with interest in Neymar
Neymar’s quest to rejoin Barcelona may just have hit a brick wall, following Xavi’s latest comments about reports linking the Brazilian with a summer move to the Catalan club.
The 31-year-old forward is apparently fed up with his time at Paris Saint-Germain and has offered his services to the reigning La Liga champions, hoping to secure a return to Camp Nou.
According to Football Espana, Xavi has now distanced Barcelona from such rumours in a recent interview, insisting Neymar is not in the plans of the Catalan giants.
"That’s a surprise," he said concerning the claims. "Look, I appreciate Neymar as a person, as a player, as a friend, he’s a great player, but he’s not in our plans, no."
Neymar spent four years at Barcelona between 2013 and 2017, before leaving for PSG in a world-record deal worth €222 million.
Neymar would accept pay cut
Meanwhile, Neymar is keen on securing a return to Barcelona this summer and would be willing to lower his salary in order to make the move a reality, Barca Universal reports.
With Lionel Messi out of the picture, La Blaugrana have been given the opportunity to re-sign the Brazilian, who is set to leave PSG this summer after six years with the Ligue 1 outfit.
Barcelona might find the demands for the 31-year-old forward out of their reach given that Neymar still has two years left on his current contract in the French capital.
