The two sides had earlier settled for a thrilling 5-5 draw after regulation time, forcing the encounter into post-match penalties.

Liverpool are scheduled to face Aston Villa in the final eight, but the match – which would normally play in the week commencing December 16 could clash with their commitments in the Club World Cup.

Their first match in the inter-continental competition will hold on Wednesday, December 18, with Klopp suggesting domestic fixture makers may have to find a suitable slot in his side's congested calendar.

"If they don’t find an appropriate place for us, not 3am on Christmas Day, then we don’t play it," Klopp warned after the Arsenal win.
"They have to make that decision. You have to think about these things. If you have a fixture list where one team cannot be part of all the games, then you have to think about the fixture list," he added.
