FootballRonaldo’s Ally Piers Morgan Shades Messi After MLS Move at 35
- Lionel Messi confirmed he will join MLS side Inter Miami after leaving Paris Saint-Germain

- Morgan is a friend and defender of rival Cristiano Ronaldo who moved to Al-Nassr this year
Lionel Messi’s move to the Major League Soccer with Inter Miami was confirmed by the superstar yesterday, and is already generating widespread reactions from fans.
Messi’s time at Paris Saint-Germain ended after the 3-2 loss to Clermont Foot on the final day of the Ligue 1 season, after his two-year contract with the French club expired.
He was close to renewing that deal before heading to Qatar for the 2022 FIFA World Cup, but talks slowed down after the veteran became a world champion with Argentina.
Inter Miami won the race for his signature, edging out former club, FC Barcelona and Saudi Pro League side, Al-Hilal, who raised their offer to $1.5 billion at the last minute to possibly thwart the move, according to Forbes.
Piers Morgan shades Messi
Cristiano Ronaldo moved to Al-Nassr in January after his Manchester United contract was mutually terminated due to an explosive interview with British broadcaster, Piers Morgan.
According to Kickoff, the 38-year-old was mocked by fans - led by Liverpool legend and pundit, Jamie Carragher - for moving to a lower league and a labelled finish.
Morgan, who has constantly been in the media defending the Portuguese superstar, was quick to fire shots at Messi for moving to the United States at 35 - far younger than the former Real Madrid star when he moved to the Middle East.
“So, Messi quits elite football at 35, three years earlier than Ronaldo. Presumably, we’ll now read/hear all the same scathing, mocking pieces by sportswriters/pundits that they wrote/said about Cristiano - right? (Spoiler alert: we won’t.),” he wrote on Twitter.
Some fans of the seven-time Ballon d’Or winner objected to Morgan's claims and added that since he won the FIFA World Cup, he had nothing more to do.
