Chelsea owner steps back from running matters at the club after disastrous season
FootballChelsea Owner Backs Pochettino to Win Premier League Title Next Season
- Mauricio Pochettino will take over as Chelsea boss on July 1 after signing a two-year contract
- He takes over a club that went through four managers this season and is truly in a predicament
- Chelsea co-owner Todd Boehly has revealed that he expects big things from the Argentine coach
Chelsea ended the just-concluded season in the bottom half of the Premier League table, but are hoping for big things next season under new head coach, Mauricio Pochettino.
The Blues had four managers oversee at least a game during the season, including one game by Bruno Saltor - Graham Potter’s assistant - who took charge of the 0-0 draw against Liverpool.
It all started with the harsh firing of beloved Champions League-winning manager, Thomas Tuchel in September, with his replacement - Potter - sacked seven months later after a poor run of results.
Early exits from the domestic cup competitions, a quarter-final embarrassment at the hands of Real Madrid, and staring relegation in the eye encapsulated a disastrous season for the Blues.
Boehly backs Pochettino to succeed
According to Football London, Boehly was in Saudi Arabia coincidentally with the news that N’golo Kante will be on the move to join Al-Ittihad, a transfer that is only confirmation away from completion.
In a video recirculated on Twitter by Hayters TV, the American billionaire was serenaded by a Chelsea fan who hilariously called him Boyle and sang fans' chant for winter signing, Benoit Badiashile.
The fan said he believes the former Tottenham Hotspur boss will win the English league title next season, with the LA Dodgers co-owner agreeing, claiming it would be a great time under the new boss.
Goal reports that the last time Boehly predicted about the team, it failed to come to pass.

Details of Pochettino’s Chelsea contract
Boehly has been criticised for many of his decisions as owner. However, Sports Brief reported on Chelsea avoiding their Graham Potter mistake with the contract handed to Pochettino.
The Blues gave the former Brighton and Hove Albion boss a five-year contract worth £12 million per year, only to dismiss him seven months after a string of poor results by the Blues.
The English club has appeared to avoid making the same mistake with signing of former Southampton boss, Pochettino, by giving him a two-year deal with an option of one more.
