Former captain of the Black Stars, Asamoah Gyan, has revealed his worst moment as Ghana player.

The 37-year-old, who is yet to announce his retirement from the game, played for the national team for almost two decades, going on to become the country's all-time top scorer.

However, at a point in his career, he contemplated ending his time with the national team due to unfair criticisms.

Gyan, who led the Black Stars to final of the 2010 Africa Cup of Nations in Angola, disclosed his shock when he was criticised despite winning a match with the team.

"My worst memory in Black Stars days is Angola 2010 when I was criticised for a game we won," he told Asempa FM.

In Angola, Gyan scored three times as a young Ghana team fell short against a very experienced Egypt side in the final.

He also disclosed how he lost his love for the country after harsh criticisms at the 2008 Africa Cup of Nations in Ghana.

"Harsh critics after 2008 AFCON almost made me lose love for Ghana," he added.

Gyan is yet to completely bow out of the game and admits he has been thinking about his retirement for sometime now.

"I have been contemplating on my retirement," said Gyan.

The former Sunderland striker has not played for the Black Stars since the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations in Egypt, as reported by Transfermarkt.

Gyan praises youngster Ernest Nuamah

Earlier, Sports Brief reported that Former Black Stars captain, Asamoah Gyan has praised Black Meteors forward Ernest Nuamah after his dazzling display in the victory over Algeria.

The FC Nordsjaelland youngster provided the assist for Abdul Fatawu Issahaku's winner as Ghana qualified for the Africa U23 Cup of Nations.

Nuamah was e toast of fans at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium as he exhibited superb skills and dribbling ability.

Gyan celebrates Kwadwo Asamoah

Former Black Stars captain, Asamoah Gyan has showered praises on ex-teammate, Kwadwo Asamoah after a highlight package of his game for Juventus was shared on social media.

Gyan and Asamoah played together for several years in the national team, and both started their careers abroad in Italy, playing for Udinese.

Asamoah played for four Serie A clubs but his days with Juventus and Inter Milan were the best of his career, winning many titles with the Old Lady in particular.
