“I want to play with Messi here": Lewandowski makes bold claim about Barcelona, Messi reunion
FootballLa Liga Approves Barcelona’s Financial Plan, Lionel Messi’s Return Now Possible
- Lionel Messi will depart PSG after a torrid two-year stint
- Messi has been linked with a return to Barcelona
- The club had proposed a viability plan to La Liga to ensure the Argentine's return
FC Barcelona's viability plan has finally received the green light from La Liga, making it now possible for Lionel Messi to return to the club, according to Relevo.
Messi is a free agent on June 30 and announced his departure from current club Paris Saint-Germain on Saturday, ahead of the Ligue 1 giants releasing an official statement confirming the development.
After Messi played his final game at the Parc des Princes that evening, a shock 3-2 loss to Clermont Foot where he was booed for missing a chance from close range, Relevo reported that a Saudi delegation had traveled to the French capital to try and close his signature for Al-Hilal.
Amid Footmercato reporting that the Messi camp had accepted a two-year €1.2 billion ($1.3 billion) proposal for him to continue his career in the Middle East, Relevo added that former club FC Barcelona was still the Argentine's preferred destination.
The Catalans have been experiencing delays in getting the green light from La Liga on a viability plan that convinces the league they can pull off the coup economically. This threatened to derail Messi's potential return to Catalonia altogether.
It is now confirmed, however, according to Relevo, that La Liga have given the thumbs up to the plan, which means that a second stint at his boyhood club for Messi is now possible.
The approval means that the club can now start taking action in the transfer market. They can now register the new contracts of Ronald Araujo and Gavi and announce new signings.
As indicated by Barca head coach Xavi Hernandez, Messi is expected to make a decision on his future this week.
Al-Hilal star afraid Lionel Messi's arrival at Saudi club will get him sacked
FootballSources at Al-Hilal have reported that they wanted to announce Messi's arrival on the 6th of June. However, he may not accept the big money move to Saudi Arabia, which would put him in line to top Forbes' list of the World's Highest-Paid Athletes.
Messi’s potential Barcelona contract
Messi finished second to generational rival Cristiano Ronaldo in the most recent edition of the list, thanks to the Portugese veteran's switch to Al-Hilal's bitter rivals Al-Nassr.
Messi is expected to earn €25 million ($27.5 million) a season in Barcelona on a two-year contract according to SPORT.
If he to already put pen to paper for the Blaugrana, Messi could join Xavi's squad on their planned pre-season tour of the United States, which also promises a meeting with Real Madrid in El Clasico.
PSG gifts Messi’s farewell package

FootballThe departing duo, who both joined the club in the summer of 2021, featured in PSG's final game of the season against Clermont Foot, which ended in a 3-2 defeat for the 11-time French champions.
The unexpected loss did not mar the plans of the club to honour the seven-time Ballon d'Or winner and his compatriot from Spain with plaques following the end of their final game of the season on Saturday.
