Real Madrid are set to suffer a huge blow in finding a replacement for Karim Benzema, with Mauricio Pochettino reportedly banking on Kai Havertz next season.
Benzema and Real Madrid have agreed to part ways at the end of this season, bringing to an end a glittering 14-year companionship that saw the French striker win 25 major trophies.
The exit of Benzema will surely put things in motion for the signing of a new striker. With Kylian Mbappe set to remain at Paris Saint-Germain for at least another season, the club had hoped to lure Havertz away from Chelsea.
Havertz has often divided opinion, with the German utility player involved in just 8 goals in 35 appearances in what was a disappointing campaign for Chelsea.
Pochettino makes Havertz decision
Earlier reports had indicated that Chelsea would be willing to move him on if the right offer came through, but Football London now reports that Pochettino has maintained that Havertz will be integral in his plans in West London.
Pochettino, who is set to take over as Chelsea's Head Coach on July 1, will embark on a massive release of players. Spanish outlet Marca reports that Pochettino will block any attempt to sell Havertz this summer. The publication adds that Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane remains their priority target.

Sports Brief has reported that Benzema joined Los Blancos from hometown club, Lyon, in 2009 and made 657 appearances, scoring 353 goals.
