Man City stun Man United

Meanwhile, it was City who emerged as the eventual winner of the tie to keep their treble dreams alive.

Sky Sports reports that Ilkay Gundogan was City's match hero, with the German star bagging a brace to earn his side a much-needed win.

Gundogan needed just 12 seconds to score the opener, with his goal now the fastest-ever in the history of the competition.

Bruno Fernandes went on to restore parity for the Red Devils from the penalty spot, only for Gundogan to strike again in the second half for City's winner.

The Citizens will now be shifting their attention to the upcoming Champions League final, where they will be facing Italian giants Inter Milan.

The tie represents a realistic opportunity for City to win their first European trophy in history.

Lindelof hit by object during FA Cup

Sports Brief also reported on how Victor Lindelof was struck by an object as Manchester United players were celebrating their equalizer against City.

According to a video shared on Twitter by @TheFergusonWay, the Swede was picked out among his teammates and the object hit straight below his left eye, he bent down immediately but it was nothing serious and he continued the game.

He was substituted in the 83rd minute of the game and replaced by academy graduate Scott McTominay, in what appears to be a tactical substitution more than a precaution or injury.
