FootballCasemiro Downplays Post Match Spats With Fernandes Ahead of FA Cup Final
- Brazilian midfielder Casemiro has been a difference-maker for Manchester United this season
- He was instrumental in ending the club’s six-year trophy drought with the Carabao Cup triumph
- United will aim for glory at Wembley Stadium once again with the FA Cup final against Manchester City
Casemiro has opened up on his past post-match spats with teammate Bruno Fernandes ahead of today's FA Cup final against Manchester City.
The Brazilian joined Manchester United from Real Madrid in the summer for a package of £70m and immediately became a difference-maker in the middle of the park.
He came in with a wealth of experience, having won five UEFA Champions League during his time in Madrid, and he exhibits that with his mentality and drive for Erik Ten Hag’s team.
According to talkSPORT, after watching Brentford beat United 4-0 earlier in the season, he told his agent to tell the club he would fix the problem, and he has done that.
Casemiro on relationship with Fernandes
Portuguese midfielder Bruno Fernandes has been United’s most important player since he joined in 2020 and Casemiro affirmed this by calling him the engine.
The two have been engaged in post-match spats twice this season, the first at Wembley after the Carabao Cup victory and after the 1-0 loss to Aston Villa in the Premier League but the midfielder has downplayed any serious issue.
“I expect a great deal from him because he’s one of the most important players in the team. So when he misses a chance or his passes go astray, we always want him to do everything perfectly, but these are normal conversations,” he said via Mirror UK.
“I’ve never had an argument with Bruno - the opposite, in fact. I just always demand a lot from him and he demands a lot from me, too.”
The two will have to be at their best today if the team will stand any chance against their rivals in a final that could make Man City edge closer to completing a treble.
