Youths of Olusosun in the Ojota area of the Lagos State are preparing to celebrate Napoli’s first Serie A title in more than three decades - by splashing the cash on a cow.
One of their own, Victor Osimhen scored 25 goals in the Italian top flight, leading the Partenopei to their third Scudetto since the club was founded in 1926.
The victory has sparked celebrations among fans of the club around the world, including Olusosun, where the striker grew up.
Osimhen, who was born in Lagos, grew up in the Ojota area and his friends, under the umbrella 'Olusosun to the World', have set out a date to celebrate one of their own.
Nicknamed 'Ijaya Olusosun', Osimhen is already making the community proud and celebrations are underway. Fatai Bello, popularly known as 'Baba Musiliu', said:
“We love him so much in this area. This is because he has been amazing to the community. We are lucky he grew up in this community. He is so humble to both the elderly ones and the younger."
Also speaking on behalf of 'Olusosun to the World', Oladejo Oladimeji and Adeyemi Adesoye added:
“He remains a family member and a friend. We will continue to do everything to celebrate him.”
Osimhen nominated for Serie A award
Sports Brief earlier reported that Osimhen received a 'best striker' nomination in the Serie A this season following his impressive performances this term for Napoli, including 25 goals.
The Nigerian goal machine has recorded his name in gold in Italy after helping the club win the Scudetto after three decades, and he is now the leading African scorer in league history.
Osimhen's performances have made him a target for many clubs in Europe, with the likes of Chelsea, Manchester United, and Paris Saint-Germain all looking for the striker's services.
