  • The two big clubs of Manchester will clash in the FA Cup final at Wembley tomorrow

  • United defender Raphael Varane says he has a plan to stop City striker Erling Haaland

Manchester United defender, Raphael Varane has a plan to stop Manchester City striker, Erling Haaland in the FA Cup final tomorrow at Wembley Stadium.

The Red Devils will face their city rivals in the final after they dispatched Brighton and newly-promoted Premier League side, Sheffield United in the semi-finals.

It will be both clubs’ second attempt at trophies this season, with United having won the Carabao Cup to end their six-year trophy drought, while the Citizens retained the Premier League title.

According to Manchester Evening News, it is the first major final between the two, and they have sold out their 30,500 ticket allocations for the historic final.

Varane has plans for Haaland

Erling Haaland’s first season in English football has been highly productive and successful. He picked up the golden boot after scoring a record 36 goals and was also the recipient of the awards for Player of the Year and Young Player of the Year.

The Norwegian will be in the spotlight tomorrow when the two sides clash, as he could be a deciding factor, but French defender, Varane has nothing to fear and has a clever plan for him.

“Haaland is a very good player, we all know that, but the danger from City is everywhere,” he said, via Mirror UK.

The French international analysed City’s game and believes United must play as a team to neutralise the opposition threat, especially the connection between Haaland and Kevin De Bruyne.

“As a defender, the connection, especially with De Bruyne - that kind of pass is complicated to defend, so we’ll try to cut that connection. We’ll try to stop them earlier and not at the end because sometimes it’s too late,” he added.

The two teams have met twice this season; City won 6-3 at the Etihad Stadium, with Haaland and Phil Foden scoring hat-tricks, while United won 2-1 at Old Trafford.

Five players doubtful for City

Sports Brief also reported that Man City have five injury doubts ahead of their all-important final against city rivals, Manchester United tomorrow.

Guardiola revealed this during his post-match conference after the 1-0 loss to Brentford, with Jack Grealish and Ruben Dias among concerns.
