Former Cameroon and Barcelona striker, Samuel Eto'o has urged Brazilian winger, Vinicius Jr. to stand up for his rights after suffering racist abuse from fans in La Liga.
The Real Madrid winger was abused by fans of Valencia during Los Blancos' defeat at the Estadio Mestalla a fortnight ago.
In an attempt to react to the chants from the fans, Vinicius Jr. ended up getting sent off as Real Madrid finished the game with ten men.
Vinicius has received support from several sportsmen, including teammates.
Eto'o, an ex-footballer who suffered similar cases during his playing days for Real Mallorca and Barcelona in Spain, backed Vinicius in his fight against the disturbing phenomenon.
"Stand up for what's right, Vini Jr," he wrote on Twitter in a reply to a portrait which shows images of himself, the Real Madrid star, Marcus Rashford of Manchester United, and Mario Balotelli of Italy.
Following the recent abuse, seven people have been arrested, according to CNN.
Meanwhile, La Liga and Real Madrid have condemned the attitude of fans, while strict measures have been proposed for perpetrators of the act.
Saliba meets Samuel Eto'o
Earlier, Sports Brief reported that Arsenal defender William Saliba has returned to his roots after visiting Cameroon during his injury recovery.
The France international opted to represent the country of his birth. His mother hails from Cameroon.
He is currently in the African country and took the opportunity to visit iconic striker Samuel Eto'o at his FECAFOOT office.
