Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta has been handed a huge injury boost following the return of Kieran Tierney to training ahead of their Europa League clash against Benfica.

The 23-year-old Scot has missed the Gunners' last five Premier League fixtures due to a nagging calf injury.

His absence has forced the Spanish-born tactician to field Cedric Soares out of position on the left, but that will stop now with the right player for the win is back and stronger.

The North Londoners shared a short video clip on social media with the left-back participating in the drills ahead of their European meeting with the Portuguese club.

Tierney has not featured for the Emirates Stadium outfit since their 3-0 win over Newcastle United on January 18 but has missed their last five top-flight games due to the setback as reported by SunSport.

Benfica host Arsenal in the first leg of their Europa League rounds of 32 encounter on Thursday, February 18 but both sides will have to settle for neutral grounds for the two legs due to COVID-19.

Sources reveal that the first leg originally scheduled at the Stadio Olimpico in Rome, while the return leg has been moved from the Emirates to Athens and the Stadio Georgios Karaiskakis.

Tierney joined the Gunners from Celtic in 2019 in a deal valued at around £25 million and has been super impressive for them since his move.

Legit.ng earlier reported that Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has stated that the Gunners will know their true status in all competitions by the end of February.

The Gunners, who have suffered back-to-back league defeats, face a testing four-game run between now and the end of the month.

They succumbed to a second successive defeat in the Premier League after falling to a lowly 1-0 defeat to Aston Villa on Saturday, February 6.
