Andy Cole delivers two surprising reasons why Man United should sign Osimhen ahead of Kane
Football5 Alternative Strikers for Manchester United if Kane Stays at Tottenham
- Manchester United have made Harry Kane the priority for their number 9 position
- Anthony Martial and Wout Weghorst are expected to leave after the FA Cup final
- Tottenham are attempting to keep Kane in North London with a new manager set to be appointed
Manchester United have Harry Kane as their priority target for the number 9 position, but there is no guarantee the English striker will make the switch.
Despite apparent interest from United and German champions Bayern Munich, there had been mixed signals over the striker’s future.
According to Bild, Kane has informed the Bavarians he is not interested in a move abroad and prioritised a move to Old Trafford instead.
However, there are growing concerns he could stay at Spurs. Sports Brief looks at five alternatives for United in case he stays.
1. Dusan Vlahovic
The Serbian striker is sure to leave the troubled waters at Juventus. A potent goalscorer and a big presence in the box, Vlahovic will be a good fit for Erik ten Hag, but there is competition from Bayern Munich.
2. Victor Osimhen
Osimhen is one of the focal points of Napoli’s Scudetto-winning squad. Luciano Spalletti’s departure could prompt the striker to want to move. Yet again, the Red Devils and Bayern share an interest in the Nigerian forward.
3. Lautaro Martinez
The World Cup winner is another option for United. A number 9 capable of playing anywhere across the frontline. The Argentine could be available for £70m, with Chelsea also interested.
4. Rasmus Hojlund
He is a younger option at 20 but has every skill set to be a world-class striker. The Atalanta striker is on the radar of many top European clubs. The Italians are resigned to losing him for a reasonable fee, and United have held concrete internal talks.
Chelsea stars set for exit including Mendy and Loftus-Cheek
Football5. Randal Kolo Muani
The Eintracht Frankfurt striker completes the pack, but he will not be going for cheap. The Athletic reports that United’s hierarchy believes £68m should do the trick, with Bayern Munich also interested.
Manchester United’s likeliest signings
Manchester United will be in the hunt for a new goalkeeper, a striker and midfielders this summer to bolster their squad for next season’s campaign when they play Champions League football.
Sports Brief reported that artificial intelligence listed nine likeliest signings for Man Utd, including Harry Kane, Mason Mount and a relegated Leicester City player.
