  • Jose Mourinho was not ready to rejoice when Roma scored the opener against Sevilla
  • Six-time winners Sevilla faced a Roma side managed by Mourinho, who remains unbeaten in five continental finals
  • Roma took the lead thanks to Dybala, but Mourinho remained carefree despite the advantage

Jose Mourinho was the most composed person in the Puskas Arena when Paulo Dybala opened the score for AS Roma in their Europa League final match against Sevilla.

Mourinho looked on calmly as the Argentine forward gave Roma a well-earned lead in the 34th minute.

Dybala received a fantastic pass from deep, allowing it to run across his body before scoring precisely beyond Sevilla goalkeeper, Yassine Bounou.

Dybala raced to the corner flag to celebrate with his teammates close by, Sport Bible reported.

However, a cool, calm, and collected Mourinho strode off as if nothing had happened while the Roma bench sprung from their seats.

If his team wins Wednesday's Europa League final, Mourinho will be able to display one more trophy in his trophy cabinet.

The Special One, who has amassed 26 titles in his managerial career, was upbeat before the game began.

The former Chelsea and Manchester United manager responded to a question about criticism of his tactics by saying to BT Sport:

"Who questions me? I don't care. What can I do? Fight everyone?
"No, I cannot do it. I work super hard and try my best - that's my education, that's what I do everyday. My history is there, nobody can delete it. But it's also my philosophy of life.
"I have a final to play on Wednesday, and I will do everything possible to try and win it."

Mourinho downplays Sevilla fear

Sports Brief has also reported that Mourinho boldly claimed 'history doesn’t play' when he was asked about the fear factor for Sevilla being the most successful club in Europa League history.

The Italian giants can finish no higher than fifth in the Serie A this season, meaning they will need to succeed in the Europa League if they are to qualify for next season’s Champions League.

Mourinho’s side come up against the six-time Europa League winners just 12 months after winning the inaugural Europa Conference League, so the stakes are high for both sides.

Mourinho bans staff from training

Sports Brief also reported on Mourinho banning AS Roma staff from team training ahead of this season's Europa League final.

Ahead of the game, the Special One would only permit certain personnel to access the club's training ground in Rome.

Corriere dello Sport reports that only technical and medical staff were allowed to watch as the team was put through their paces.
