FootballRaheem Sterling Lists 3 Reasons Why Pochettino Is the Perfect Man for Chelsea Job
- Raheem Sterling contends Chelsea made the right decision to appoint Mauricio Pochettino as the club's permanent manager
- Pochettino was confirmed as the Blues' new boss on Monday, with the Argentine penning a two-year contract with the club
- The ex-Tottenham manager has been out of job for almost a year now, having been sacked at Paris Saint-Germain in 2022
Chelsea winger Raheem Sterling has endorsed the appointment of Mauricio Pochettino as the Blues' new manager.
The Premier League giants have been shopping for a permanent manager after they sacked Graham Potter back in February following a disastrous run of form and results.
Former Bayern Munich boss Julian Nagelsmann and Spaniard Luis Enrique has initially emerged as the favourites for the Stamford Bridge job.
However, Pochettino beat both of them to the role, with the Argentine returning to the dugout for the first time in almost a year after he was sacked at Paris Saint-Germain.
Sky Sports reports that Pochettino's appointment was confirmed on Monday, May 29, with the ex-PSG boss said to have penned a two-year deal with the west Londoners.
Sterling backs Mauricio Pochettino
Sterling, who joined Chelsea from Manchester City in the summer of 2022, has now declared that Pochettino is the right man for the job at Stamford Bridge.
While Poch will be inheriting a shell-shocked squad which finished a lowly 12th with a paltry 44 points, Sterling contends he has what it takes to steer the club to greater heights.
The former Man City winger went on to highlight the three qualities the Argentine will be bringing with him to Stamford Bridge.
“He will bring leadership, he will challenge players physically and mentally. I feel he is going to come here and he is going to have the personality that everyone is going to respect," Sterling said via The Sun.
