Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag has broken his long silence on Mason Greenwood's situation at Old Trafford.

According to Sportbible, Greenwood was apprehended at his home in January 2021 to face a series of allegations involving his girlfriend.

The English forward was subsequently removed from FIFA 22 and dropped by sponsors Nike in the wake of the allegations.

However, the Man United academy graduate was handed a reprieve in February after all the charges he was facing were dropped.

Be that as it may, United are still yet to integrate the forward into the squad, with the club initially announcing they would conduct an internal investigation to 'determine next steps.'

Ten Hag speaks on Greenwood

Ten Hag has now, for the first time, spoken about the 21-year-old's situation at the Theatre of Dreams.

Speaking in an interview with The Times, the Dutchman hinted Greenwood could end up staying at Manchester United as he divulged into the forward's prowess.

“[He] showed in the past that he is capable of doing that," Ten Hag said.
“What we need besides Marcus Rashford is one extra player with scoring abilities whether it’s coming out of our own squad or we have to sign one,” he added.

Greenwood had scored an impressive 36 goals in 130 appearances for the Red Devils before he was suspended.
