Barcelona wrapped up the La Liga season with unpleasant news after it was reported youngster, Alejandro Balde, had a partial tear of the external lateral ligament in his right ankle.
The 19-year-old Spanish defender picked up the injury during Barcelona’s final game of the season against Real Mallorca, which the La Liga champions won 3-0 thanks to goals from Ansu Fati and Gavi.
According to Barcelona, the club’s medical services announced that Balde is expected to be sidelined for six to seven weeks which is the recovery timeframe of the injury.
Real Mallorca player Amath Ndiaye was shown a direct red card for his reckless tackle on the Barca full-back following a VAR review in the 12th minute of the La Liga tie on Sunday.
Balde broke into Barcelona’s first team this season, making 44 appearances overall and 33 in La Liga as he helped the club to their first La Liga title in three years.
Mallorca star apologises to Balde
Meanwhile, Amath Ndiaye has apologised to Barcelona youngster Alejandro Balde after the Mallorca winger’s horrific tackle seriously injured the latter in their La Liga clash on Sunday, Barca Universal reports.
Ndiaye took to social media to apologise to Balde as he wished the Barcelona defender a speedy recovery while stating he had no intentions of hurting the Spanish full-back.
Ndiaye was sent off after he came scything down on Balde with a recklessly high challenge that left the Barcelona youngster struggling on the ground.

FootballBalde receives offers from Bayern
Earlier, Sports Brief reported Alejandro Balde’s rise has attracted the attention of several top clubs across Europe, more so given that his contract expires in the summer of 2024.
As such, Balde has an offer from German champions Bayern Munich, while two unnamed Premier League clubs have also sent in proposals.
It is not new for Bayern Munich to cast admiring glances towards the young talents at Barcelona. They have previously tried to sign Pedri and were recently credited with an interest in Ansu Fati and Gavi.
