As noted by News24, Pirates did the double this season, taking home the MTN8 title and the Nedbank Cup trophy. Jose Riveiro's men also finished second in the DStv Premiership, qualifying for the CAF Champions League.

With their participation in the Carling Black Label Cup final, Orlando Pirates played in every fixture possible for a single side domestically. It also meant that they earned a lot of money this season.

Orlando Pirates win big

iDiskiTimes reported that the Buccaneers took home R26 million for their achievements this season.

The Sea Robbers banked R7 million for winning the Nedbank Cup and R8 million for winning the MTN8. They also netted R1.5 million for winning the Q4 Innovation quarter and took home another R2 million for being a semi-finalist in the Carling Black Label Cup.

Finally, Riveiro's side also won another R7.5 million for finishing second in the league behind Mamelodi Sundowns.

Pirates' winnings compared to Arsenal

Much like the Buccaneers, Arsenal also finished second in their domestic league but earned much more money for their efforts.

As noted by Tribuna, The Gunners pocketed £70 million for finishing in the runners-up spot. Pirates' sum from finishing second only equates to just over £308 thousand.

Terrence Dzvukamanja grabs late winner

Terrence Dzvukamanja is Orlando Pirates’ hero.

The forward scored a late goal to gift the Buccaneers the Nedbank Cup final in the last minute of the game.

Pirates and Sekhukhune United were level after 90 minutes and with six minutes of time added on, it looked like the final would be headed to extra time, Sports Brief reported.
