  • Leeds United were relegated to the Championship after losing 4-1 at home to Tottenham Hotspur
  • Relegation specialist Sam Allardyce could not save the Whites as their three years stay came to an end
  • Chelsea also ended an underwhelming season but never forgot an incident between the two early in the season

Leeds United will be playing in the second tier of English football next season. Their relegation was confirmed after they lost 4-1 to Tottenham Hotspur at Elland Road.

Their three-year stay ends after being promoted to the Premier League after winning the 2019/20 season Championship.

The season has been quite turbulent for the Whites, who have had four different managers oversee at least a game in charge, but it was futile in helping them avoid a drop.

According to SportBible, relegation specialist Sam Allardyce was hired for the last four games and was paid £500,000 with a further £2.5m promised if they avoid a drop, but he picked up just one point from 12.

Chelsea derides Leeds after relegation

After their relegation was confirmed, Chelsea moved in on Leeds with a brutal dig about an incident from the meeting of the two sides in August.

According to Mirror UK, the team under American head coach Jesse Marsch beat Chelsea 3-0, a match Conor Gallagher was sent off for two bookable offences in the first half.

Leeds Twitter made a screenshot of what could be described as “events that precede unfortunate moments” from Chelsea and captioned it “life comes at you fast!”.

The London club retaliated by quoting the tweet with “it certainly does” after the season ended yesterday.

Thomas Tuchel was the Blues’ manager at that time. His successor Graham Potter beat Leeds 1-0 at

Stamford Bridge in one of his final games.

Chelsea star waves goodbye

A rollercoaster season came to an end for Chelsea yesterday. They are set for a massive clearout this summer. Ruben Loftus-Cheek’s gesture confirmed his exit yesterday, as Sports Brief reported.

The academy graduate will leave the club with AC Milan already in talks for his signature. Mason Mount was also emotional as he walked off the pitch as he is also set to depart.
