Ivan Toney has dropped a bombshell trailer after the FA published written reasons for his eight-months ban for breaching the FA betting rules.
The Brentford striker has been embroiled in an investigation by the English Football Association over his betting activities, which alleged 262 betting breaches.
He admitted to some of the breaches while 30 were dropped, and after further investigation, a seemingly appropriate punishment was meted out.
According to Sky Sports, after months of investigation, he was hit with an eight month ban from football and all football-related activities until January 16, 2024. He would be unable to train for the first four months and fined £50,000.
Toney breaks silence
According to Reuters, the FA today published written reasons for the lengthy ban and also noted that his good records helped in making the ban as minimal as possible.
The striker immediately took to Twitter and dropped a six-word tweet, leaving fans anticipating what he would say next.
''I’ll speak soon with no filter,'' he tweeted.
He was said to have bet 15 times on himself to score in nine games he played in, though his starting berth in those games was not yet public knowledge.
During his time at Newcastle, on loan at Wigan, he placed 13 bets on his team to lose in seven matches, all of which he did not play in.
The association noted he could have risked a 15 month ban if he had not pleaded guilty to the charges.
Details on Toney’s ban
Sports Brief previously reported on written reasons for Toney’s ban, which were made known to the public a week after he was first handed the ban.
Some of the bets came when he was a registered player of the clubs, which included 15 bets on his team to win; he played in nine of those games but was an unused substitute in others.
