English-born Ghanaian, Kobbie Mainoo has been named the Jimmy Murphy Player of the Year for his expliots at Manchester United.
The 18-year-old received the award for being the best young player at United for the 2022/23 season.
Mainoo enjoyed a breakthrough campaign at Old Trafford after making his first team debut in the Carabao Cup match against Charlton Athletic in January.
The England youth international added two senior team appearances for Erik ten Hag's men while also playing a key role for the U21 side in the Premier League 2.
Mainoo scored twice and provided two assists for the reserve side.
“It’s an unbelievable feeling. I have been at this club all my life and it’s all been building to tonight. And to have my family here watching me, surrounding me, it is just amazing," he told Man United's official website.
The youngster also discussed his time with the Old Trafford outfit.
“I’ve been in training with the lads quite a few times. They all made me feel welcome and all gave me words of advice and encouragement. So I felt at home. To stay around it and to keep on getting more games is the ultimate goal. I want to stay at this club; I’ve been here my whole life.”
Mainoo remains eligible to represent Ghana despite playing for England's youth teams, with both countries certain to try and entice him.

Earlier, Sports Brief reported that English-born Ghanaian, Mainoo made his Man United debut in the EFL Cup versus Charlton Athletic.

Mainoo lasted an hour of the game before he was replaced by Casemiro, with Man United ultimately triumphing 3-0 at Old Trafford.
Mainoo joins United first team
English-born Ghanaian midfielder, Mainoo trained with United's first team ahead of their FA Cup game against Everton, Sports Brief also reported.
The player, then only 17 years old, had been outstanding for the club's youth team, earning him an invite to the senior side by coach, Erik ten Hag.
