FootballLothar Matthaus Describes the Relationship Between Bayern Munich and Mane as a Mistake
- Lothar Matthaus has discussed the relationship between Sadio Mane and Bayern Munich
- The Bavarian legend recently acquired a co-ownership stake in Ghanaian club Accra Lions
- Matthaus believes Mane will surely leave the Bundesliga giants at the end of this season
Former German international, Lothar Matthaus believes Sadio Mane's time at Bayern Munich seems to have come to an end, after the Senegalese started from the bench again in the defeat to RB Leipzig.
Mane's relationship with the club took a nosedive after his dressing room altercation with teammate, Leroy Sane, following the UEFA Champions League defeat to Manchester City in March.
The Senegalese forward has also struggled for form following his return from injury in February, coming on as a substitute in most of the matches since.
According to Matthaus, who was in Ghana early this week for the launch of his co-ownership of Accra Lions, stated Mane could leave at the end of the season.
"Bayern will let him go, yes. I think the relationship between Bayern Munich and Mane is over," he told Super Sport TV.
"After the last game on Saturday, he was in in the last ten minutes and a young player came before him. I think the relationship was maybe a mistake. There were so many mistakes Bayern were making in the last 12 months."
Matthaus also mentioned Mane having returned from an injury following the 2022 World Cup.
"This didn't make him happy, didn't make Bayern happy and he never performed like he did at Liverpool two years ago."
Mane joined Bayern last summer after six successful seasons with Liverpool, where he won the Premier League, the UEFA Champions League, the FA Cup, and the League Cup.
However, he might end the season without a trophy after the Bavarians let their league crown slip away from them by losing to RB Leipzig last week, as reported by the BBC.

FootballMatthaus slams Bayern over Nagelsmann
Earlier, Sports Brief reported that World Cup winner and former Player of the Year, Matthaus blamed Bayern for recent woes and said it came down to poor decisions.
Earlier this year, the German giants fired manager, Julian Nagelsmann and replaced him with former Chelsea coach, Thomas Tuchel - a choice which has backfired.
Bayern Munich could end the season without a sniff of silverware, having been eliminated from the UEFA Champions League and the DFB-Pokal.
