- Jali's agent Mike Makaab has not ruled out a move for his client to Kaizer Chiefs after becoming a free agent
Kaizer Chiefs have been handed a significant boost in their quest to sign Andile Jali.
The Mamelodi Sundowns midfielder is set to become a free agent in the coming days, ending a five-year journey with the side.
As noted by News24, Jali’s agent, Mike Makaab confirmed they were in the process of terminating his contract with the club.
“We are in the process of finalising a mutual termination, which will be done during the course of this week. He will leave on a positive and amicable basis,” Makaab said.
Why is Jali leaving Sundowns?
Despite being a stalwart of the side since joining, Jali earned his way into the bad books of the club by transgressing club policy. It is alleged that he arrived at training under the influence of alcohol.
Jali has been sidelined since the incident and has not trained with the team since March, fuelling speculation around his departure.
Jali’s success at Sundowns
The veteran midfielder played 139 games for the Brazilians, scoring four goals and notching up three assists during that time.
He also won five DStv Premiership titles with the side, Transfermarkt noted.
Jali to Kaizer Chiefs?
As Goal reported, Makaab hasn’t ruled out a move to the Amakhosi.
While Kaizer Motaung Jnr dismissed the idea of Jali joining the side, the player's agent said a move to the Soweto giants cannot be ruled out.
