Paris Saint-Germain are already planning for the 2023/24 season, with the club expecting a summer clearout of stars who have failed to impress in their time in Paris.
With Lionel Messi set to leave PSG and the futures of Neymar and Kylian Mbappe uncertain, the Parisians have identified two key summer transfer targets.
According to Goal, PSG are set to submit a €60million bid for Sporting Lisbon midfielder, Manuel Ugarte through agent Jorge Mendes.
Ugarte caught the attention of Europe’s top clubs after impressing in Sporting’s Europa League campaign, especially in their quarter-final tie against Arsenal, where he scored one of the goals of the season.
The Uruguayan midfielder is currently weighing up the offer from the reigning Ligue 1 champions and remains open to a move to the French capital.
Chelsea ready to battle PSG
Meanwhile, Chelsea are ready to compete with Paris Saint-Germain for Ugarte's signature in the summer transfer window, Daily Express reports.
As per reports, Chelsea have informed Sporting Lisbon that they will match PSG's €60 million offer for the 22-year-old Uruguayan midfielder in order to gain his services.
Aston Villa, Tottenham, and Liverpool have all been heavily linked with Ugarte, but none of the Premier League clubs have made an offer for the Sporting Lisbon midfielder.
Messi confirms key transfer decision
Earlier, Sports Brief reported that Barcelona players got a break from training last week following their La Liga Santander title triumph against RCD Espanyol.
Though two are set to depart, the three club captains, Sergio Busquets, Sergi Roberto, and Jordi Alba travelled to Paris, where they met with former teammate Lionel Messi.
Messi will become a free agent at the end of the season, as a renewal with PSG is no longer a viable option.
