Eberechi Eze of Crystal Palace has been invited into the England national team for their coming Euro 2024 qualifiers thereby ending the hopes of many Nigerians who want him in the Super Eagles.
The Three Lions of England will play against Malta and North Macedonia in June and Eberechi Eze could be making his debut in these two games.
Eze was born in London to Nigerian parents and he is also eligible to play for the West African nation.
Former Nigerian Football Federation President Amaju Pinnick tried his best to convince Eze to play for the Super Eagles, but the 24-year-old did not accept.
Pinnick in his effort also spoke with the parents of the Crystal Palace player, but all were futile.
According to the reports in Daily Post and Premium Times, Gareth Southgate is looking at Eze as a player who can help his side in future competitions.
Meanwhile, Chelsea winger Sterling is left out alongside fellow Blues players Mason Mount and Ben Chilwell.
Sports Brief spoke with Super Eagles coordinator Pascal Patrick on Eze being invited to play for England and he wished him good luck.
