  • Arsenal are set to reap positively from Juventus losing points in the Serie A
  • The Old Lady are now unlikely to qualify for next season's Champions League
  • The Gunners will be making a return to Europe's grand stage after seven years

Juventus' latest misfortunes have come as a blessing in disguise to Arsenal's Champions League hopes, after the Old Lady were deducted 10 points on Monday.

The Serie A giants were found guilty of financial wrongdoings, with the docked points seeing them drop from second place to seventh on the table.

With only two games remaining, this served as a severe blow to coach, Massimiliano Allegri's hopes of qualifying for Champions League football next season.

Juventus are currently on 59 points, five points adrift of AC Milan in fourth place, and they would need favours from elsewhere to make it.

The other chance they had was qualifying through the Europa League, but record winners, Sevilla pulled off another masterclass to dump them out last week.

While fans in Turin will be understandably sad about the latest developments, their North London counterparts will rejoice in this.

How Juventus' loss helps Arsenal

Only Chelsea and Tottenham are definitely out of the UCL but with with Juventus also seemingly dropping out, Arsenal's co-efficient ranking would rise and thus, they will be in Pot 2, as Talk SPORT reports.

Had all the eligible teams qualified for Europe's elite competition, the Gunners would have been in Pot 3 and therefore would have faced the prospect of a much tougher draw.

One of Sevilla and AS Roma are also poised to win the Europa League and automatically move into Pot 1, which could further boost Arsenal's chances.

Starting the draw in Pot 2 means that Arsenal will avoid the likes of Real Madrid and Bayern Munich (should Borussia Dortmund hold on and win the Bundesliga). Record winners, Madrid are confirmed for Pot 2 after Barcelona beat them to La Liga.

After seven years out, Arsenal faithful won't want to be welcomed back with a tough group draw.

Arsenal's UCL co-efficient rankings

The Gunners were among the first clubs to qualify for next season's Champions League - but there were concerns about the group the Gunners could find themselves in.

As Sports Brief reported, finishing second would be catastrophic for Arsenal because their coefficient ranking is much lower than a majority of the other UCL teams.

As it stands, Arsenal are ranked 23rd, placing them below clubs including Manchester City, Bayern Munich, Chelsea, Man United, Real Madrid, and Paris Saint-Germain.
