Paris Saint-Germain are the undisputed kings of Ligue 1, with the Parisians set to overtake Saint-Etienne for the highest number of league wins in France.

According to Get Football, PSG has been topping Ligue 1 for almost two years, maintaining the top spot in the league for 72 consecutive matchdays.

Barring a late collapse in their games against Strasbourg and then Clermont, the Parisians will also be the first team in history to lead the table from start to finish.

PSG, who have lost six matches in Ligue 1, currently have 84 points from 36 games played so far this season, and are set to claim a second consecutive Ligue 1 championship.

PSG's Marquinhos unhappy

Meanwhile, Marquinhos has played down Paris Saint-Germain's imminent Ligue 1 title win by saying that the Parisians did not have the best season, Goal reports.

The PSG captain blamed the World Cup for the lack of intensity from the club after they were knocked out of the Champions League and Coupe de France.

PSG inched closer to yet another Ligue 1 title after they defeated Auxerre 2-1, thanks to Kylian Mbappe's brace.

Mbappe to announce PSG departure

Earlier, Sports Brief reported that PSG are set to part ways with seven-time Ballon d’Or winner, Lionel Messi at the end of the season after a fallout with the Argentine superstar, and Kylian Mbappe could be next to depart Parc des Princes.

Former football agent, Francois Gallardo revealed the French star is also nursing a desire to leave the Ligue 1 champions when the season ends.

Mbappe penned a three-year contract extension with PSG at the start of the season, but the France forward is said to be keen on quitting the club to join Real Madrid this summer.
