FootballDortmund Manager Lauds Striker’s Miraculous Comeback As Bundesliga Title Beckons
- Sebastian Haller missed the first half of the season as he battled testicular cancer
- The Ivorian striker scored twice in Borussia Dortmund's 3-0 win against Augsburg
- Dortmund can seal their first Bundesliga title in a decade with a win against Mainz
Borussia Dortmund manager, Edin Terzic said the return of striker, Sebastien Haller from cancer was the season's 'biggest miracle' as his side moved to the brink of the Bundesliga title.
Haller scored twice in Dortmund's 3-0 win at Augsburg, which took them two points clear of Bayern Munich with just one game to play.
The Ivory Coast striker missed the first half of the season as he battled testicular cancer, only returning in January.
Since Haller's return, however, Dortmund have lost just one of 18 league matches.
"That he's back with us is a pure miracle," Terzic said after the game, praising the forward's important presence in the dressing room.
The manager said 28-year-old Haller scores important goals but also allowed others to shine alongside him.
Terzic added that if Haller replicated his success next week, he would be the 'hero of the season'.
Dortmund can seal their first title in a decade with a win at home against Mainz on Sunday, and would also lift the trophy if they equal or better Bayern's result away at Cologne.
Dortmund's sporting director, Sebastian Kehl praised Haller's special story: "He deserves extra credit."
Dortmund happy with Bundesliga chase
Terzic also revealed the club was happy but not completely satisfied with their position in the Bundesliga race.
"We've got a next step we need to take," he told DAZN.
As reported by BILD, Dortmund came into the game knowing victory would put them in control of the title race, but had to make the trip without injured midfielder, Jude Bellingham.

FootballThe Germans, who had scored 11 goals in their past two games, controlled the first half but could not find a breakthrough, with Haller forcing a fingertip save from Tomas Koubek.
Shortly before half-time, Augsburg's last-man, Felix Uduokhai earned himself a red card for bringing down Donyell Malen on the edge of the penalty box.
Augsburg manager, Enrico Maassen said: "The red card was the crucial moment... you can give it, but that's a hard decision."
Haller finally broke through for the visitors, snapping up a loose ball before spinning and threading the ball into the far corner. He then pounced on a rebound from a Marco Reus shot to put Dortmund 2-0 up.
This prompted chants from fans, translated as 'German champions, only Dortmund'.
With the clock winding down, Borussia captain, Mats Hummels was helped off the field after taking a boot to the face. The centre-back's replacement, Nico Schlotterbeck, put the ball through for Julian Brandt to score a third.
