  • Napoli beat Champions League finalists Inter Milan 2-1 at the Maradona
  • Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen was visibly frustrated after he was substituted in the second half
  • The incident exposes the problems in the team as Luciano Spalletti’s future continues to be in doubt

Victor Osimhen and Luciano Spalletti appeared to fume at each other during Napoli’s 2-1 victory over Champions League finalists Inter Milan.

Frank Anguissa opened the scoring in the 67th minute after an end-to-end battle between the two sides. Romelu Lukaku pulled one back for the Nerazzurri.

Captain Giovanni Di Lorenzo put the Neapolitans ahead minutes later before substitute Gianluca Gaetano rounded it up in the additional minutes.

The win irrelevantly extends Napoli’s lead at the top of the Serie A table while it dents a blow to Inter Milan’s Champions League hopes for next season.

Osimhen fumes at Spalletti

According to Football Italia, Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen was displeased at head coach Luciano Spalletti for substituting him.

CBS Sports noted in their commentary that the former Lille striker was unhappy due to his golden boot aspirations, with Lautaro Martinez only three goals behind him.

Spalletti looked unfazed on the timeline, and his assistants were appealing to the striker to calm down before he sat on the drinks box and not on the bench.

Spalletti casts doubt on future

Sports Brief reported that Luciano Spalletti cast doubts on his future during his pre-match conference ahead of the game against Inter.

His relationship with club president Aurelio De Laurentiis has broken down, and according to reports in the English media, the 64-year-old will leave the club.

A decision appears to have been made, but the manager refuses to talk and says the club would communicate the decision, which he passed on during a dinner weeks ago.
