  • Jorginho has been blamed for playing a role in Arsenal's Premier League title collapse

  • The Gunners lost their title bid to Man City on Saturday after their defeat to Nottingham Forest

Chelsea fans have bizarrely thanked Jorginho for playing a role in Arsenal's Premier League title slip-up.

The Gunners looked on course to secure this season's crown after an impressive run of form and results under Mikel Arteta.

They were so close that they had an eight-point advantage over Manchester City at some point in the campaign.

However, a string of poor results in the closing stages of the season saw them lose their grip at the top before they faltered altogether against Nottingham Forest on Saturday, May 20.

The Guardian reports that Arsenal's 1-0 painful defeat at the City Ground meant City were champions for the fifth time under Pep Guardiola with three games to spare.

Taiwo Awoniyi was Nottingham's match hero, with his solitary goal in the first half the only difference in the encounter.

Jorginho blamed for Arsenal's title collapse

A section of fans has now laid the blame on Jorginho for playing a role in Arsenal bottling the Premier League title, with some branding him 'agent Jorginho.'

The Italian midfielder swapped Chelsea for London rivals Arsenal during the January transfer window when the Gunners were still in control of the title race.

While he scored one important goal for Arsenal during the run-in, his 'timely' move to the Emirates Stadium has left Chelsea fans pleased with the transfer, per Sportbible.

@CFC_Janty observed:

"Arsenal were 11 points clear with a game in hand and then they signed Jorginho 😭😭😭 What a legend 💙."

@gyaigyimii added:

"Thank You agent Jorginho."

@AbsoluteChelsea tweeted:

"When Jorginho joined Arsenal from #Chelsea in January, Arsenal were five points clear at the top of the Premier League with a game in hand. 😎 Agent Jorgi. Once a Blue, Always a Blue."

@_eachy_ joked:

“we robbed them Jorginho for 12m”

8 Chelsea stars set for exit

Earlier, Sports Brief reported Chelsea have the largest squad in the Premier League with over 30 first-team stars, after two windows which saw them splash over £600 million on new players with no significant outgoings.

The bloated squad posed a major problem for Graham Potter as it disrupted tactical preparations and had the dressing room extended.

Mauricio Pochettino is set to be announced as the next permanent manager and will spearhead the exodus.
