- Former Super Eagles' star Udeze has told the NFF chiefs what they should do
- Peseiro signed a one-year deal with the Super Eagles and has been in charge of the last eight games
Former Super Eagles defender, Ifeanyi Udeze has stated emphatically that Jose Peseiro has nothing to offer, stressing that the Nigerian Football Federation chiefs should not renew his contract.
Peseiro was appointed as the Super Eagles coach in May 2022. The Portuguese coach replaced Austin Eguavoen, who failed to help Nigeria qualify for the FIFA World Cup in Qatar.
The former Venezuela gaffer has, however, been struggling as coach of the three-time African champions, which has raised concerns from Nigerian fans.
His one-year contract has expired and NFF chiefs have not made their decision.
According to the reports on Punch and Footballive, Udeze, who now works as a pundit, explained that the NFF leaders should hire another coach for the Super Eagles.
Udeze: NFF should sack Peseiro
“I think the NFF should go for a new coach instead of renewing Peseiro’s contract.
“When you come to coach a team like the Eagles and from the first day you are giving us the impression that you will win the Nations Cup and also qualify us for the World Cup, but things are looking different, it seems somehow to me.
“I don’t even think NFF has the money to renew Peseiro’s contract or employ any other foreign coach and that is a big issue.''
NFF boss Gusau on Peseiro
Earlier, Sports Brief reported how Ibrahim Gusau, President of the Nigerian Football Federation, finally responded to speculation surrounding the future of Jose Peseiro as the Super Eagles coach.

FootballIt's been a year since Jose Peseiro was hired under the past NFF board, which was led by Amaju Pinnick, with the Portuguese given the task of changing the fortune of the Super Eagles, after their failure to qualify for the 2022 World Cup.
However, the former Venezuela gaffer has not found it easy being in charge of the three-time African champions. He has only won three out of his eight games in charge.
