Ibrahim Gusau, President of the Nigerian Football Federation, has finally responded to speculation surrounding the future of Jose Peseiro as the Super Eagles coach.
It's been a year since Jose Peseiro was hired under the past NFF board led by Amaju Pinnick, with the Portuguese given the task of changing the fortune of the Super Eagles after their failure to qualify for the 2022 World Cup.
However, the former Venezuela gaffer has not been finding it easy in charge of the three-time African champions. He has only won three out of his eight games.

FootballThis has led to serious speculation that NFF chiefs are planning to hire another coach as a replacement for Peseiro.
According to the reports on Complete Sports and Daily Post, Ibrahim Gusau rubbished reports that the NFF has shortlisted the names of several coaches. He claims that they have not even had a meeting.
“I don’t know where they got these reports from, because I have not mandated anybody to search for a new coach, nor has NFF opened discussions with anyone to replace our current coach.
''To be candid, we have not even at the board level taken a decision on Peseiro’s contract, not to talk of engaging a new coach.''
Earlier, Sports Brief reported how South Africa’s Pitso Mosimane could be appointed as the new Super Eagles coach, according to inside sources in the Nigeria Football Federation.
